Weather is closing in for winter and the indoor season is upon us. Its time to start building and getting flying again
Saturday 19th September was our clubs annual fly-in. The weather really held up well and many visiting pilots enjoyed the hospitality provided by the club members and the Millar Family.
George would like to extend a big thank you to all that travelled to the club and also a word of thanks to the Millar Family for providing us with the extra car parking and facilities in general.
Some pictures of the flying and of course the spectators can be viewed HERE
Over the recent weekend Bill Scott from NIMSA and John Pearson where invited to join the ISR glide in held at Mt Leinster Co Wexford. Slope soaring pilots from all over Ireland enjoyed the sunshine and craic on the slopes of Mt Leinster, one of the best locations in Ireland for gliding. Saturday started of with light lift in the morning with only the floaters able to fly, however in the afternoon wind speeds increased to 10mph, therefore allowing most of the models to get airborn, indeed at one point, 12 gliders soared high in the thermals rising form the valley below. Sunday started with low cloud and mist in the morning, however, the winds picked up with gusts reaching 20 mph, perfect for the big gliders, including my B52 which flew great over the steep slopes.
Overall it was a great weekend and well worth the long drive down, If you are in the area, give Mt Leinster a visit, the views are fantastic.
